The Fitness Festival was first held in its original form in 1986. The festival has grown to become Scandinavia’s natural meeting point for the fitness and wellbeing trends of today and tomorrow. In 2007 the festival is set to be the best ever. Hopefully both where marketing and the number of visitors are concerned. visitor statistics show an ever rising number of visitors and we reckon on welcoming at least 10.000 high quality visitors this year.

Wanted: Posing oil smearer for the Swedish Championships in Bodybuilding/Fitness (1 Position)

We at eSunLess are looking for a nice, energetic person for helping us at the Swedish Championships in Bodybuilding/Fitness, October 13-14 (Saturday-Sunday).

Your duty will be to take care of all the bodybuilding and fitness competitors need for posing oil, right before they step onto stage.

It is important that you are comfortable taking responsibility. Send a photo of yourself.

Salary: 500 Swedish Kroner per day (about US$75).

In comments to the Swedish media (who naturally picked up on the story after it began to be e-mailed, blogged about and discussed in forums) the companys owner, Luke Ray, said:

The posing oil is extremely important, the amount has to be just right. Too much and the muscles are obscured, and the competitor can place last instead of winning.

Over 70 people have answered the ad - so far. Mostly female applicants in their twenties…

Open casting calls for American Gladiators to take place in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Miami and Dallis starting Saturday, September 8 according to an NBC press release from September 6, 2007:

NBC is bringing back the classic competition series “American Gladiators” and will be auditioning both contenders and gladiators for the upcoming season beginning Saturday, Sept. 8 in Los Angeles before moving onto four additional cities around the U.S including New York, Chicago, Miami and Dallas.

The show’s contenders are “weekend warriors” who have excelled and take pride in their level of fitness and want to test their physical ability in the Gladiator Arena. The “gladiators” are a charismatic and eclectic group of warriors who are ready to take down our everyday challengers with hard knocks and explosive attitudes.

As in the traditional “American Gladiators” franchise, the everyday athletes compete against the professionals in physically challenging contests. Classic events such as the joust, The Wall, Hang Tough and the Eliminator will be played in front of an arena filled with thousands of rabid spectators.

All contestants must come dressed in workout attire and appropriate footwear to be considered. They will be tested on physical ability in areas such as strength, speed, balance and agility. We recommend bringing a workout towel and water with you to the audition. All contestants must be at least 18 years of age and a legal US resident.

• Open Call Lines will begin forming 2 hours before the start time. Please do not line up prior to that.

Variety.com reports that NBC is about to bring back American Gladiators for a new generation of TV viewers. At least six episodes are expected, depending on the popularity:

NBC is getting into the ring with “American Gladiators,” which has been revived by the Peacock for mid season.

The competition skein — which featured players with names like Nitro, Turbo and Laser in its campy, early ’90s syndie incarnation — will be updated for the 21st century with new technology and twists.

Even more focus will be on the contenders, their back stories and their training:

Contestants, both male and female, will also be extremely fit but as an added bonus, will also have the chance to train for the match, displaying their physicality, coordination and cunning to viewers in advance of the competition.

Each challenger will also have a unique story to tell — and a compelling reason why they need to win. These unsung heroes combine brawn and heart in their effort to be worthy competitors, which the audience can cheer for against the villainous gladiators.

American Gladiators became a worldwide phenomenon and besides an international edition locally produced series became successes in Denmark, Finland, Nigeria, South Africa, Sweden and United Kingdom. The Pueblo Chieftain Sports Editor Judy Hildner writes in the article And now, will real Jay Cutler please stand up? about the two Jay Cutlers in the news. There’s the one playing as quarterback for Denver Broncos (online profile):

Jay Cutler looks like just another nice, young guy. Pounding the weights hasn’t melted away the little double chin that softens his face and belies his status as the new Denver Broncos’ quarterback savior at the age of 24.

And there’s the Jay Cutler that is Mr. Olympia:

Then there’s the other Jay Cutler, a one-man operation, a 33-year-old professional bodybuilder who was born and raised in Massachusetts.

His job is bodybuilding. In his autobiography on the Web site, Cutler said he played football in high school but loved the competition of bodybuilding the first time he stepped on a stage wearing just a skimpy bathing suit.

Finishing the article, she writes:

The Broncos’ Cutler is a cottage industry connected to every Denver fan in the Rocky Mountain area. The spotlight will be unbearably bright for him at times.

Jay Cutler the bodybuilder has to create his own bright lights.

Things sure were easier when the names Ronnie Coleman or Dorian Yates currently was associated with the Mr. Olympia title…
